Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
How will therapy help me?
The short answer is it depends on what you want. Most often, clients come to us with things they’re unhappy about, feeling stuck, or want to change. By talking or using trauma-specific services, we can understand what is no longer serving you and find new ways to respond to stressors, situations, or take a new route to no longer feel stuck. Although therapy may sometimes feel magical, (and sometimes it doesn’t) we like to remind people that we don’t have the answers-we help you find them.
How long does it take for therapy to work?
This question is unique to each person. Depending on what you are hoping to get out of therapy and your current circumstances, the length may vary. Research shows 12-16 sessions in a 3-6 month period have been effective in creating lasting change. We believe that clients know what works best for them and what they can afford.
How do I schedule appointments?
You can schedule an initial appointment by calling us or completing a contact form online. We typically take 24-72 business hours to respond. This can also be set up during a free consultation. If you decide it feels like a good fit after meeting we can then schedule recurring appointments, a few sessions at a time, or week to week during our session or via email.
Is what we talk about confidential?
Yes! There are legally a few exceptions where information may not be confidential which can be further discussed in session. We’re all about transparency and the best interest of you so this will be thoroughly discussed in the first session and reminded prior to any possible/reportable disclosure.
What if I can’t make it to a session?
We get that life happens so cancellations and rescheduling is understood and allowed. Please call, text, or email your clinician within 24 hours to cancel your session. Even if we don’t respond and your cancellation is within the 24 hour range it will be honored. The first late cancellation less than 24 hours is $75.00 and any following late cancelations or no shows are the full session fee of $155.00.
Do you take insurance?
Yes! We take most Optum, United Health, Medica, UMR, BCBS and MA/Medicaid plans.
For all other insurances we are considered “out of network” and can provide an itemized receipt. Some clients have found it helpful to pay with their HSA, FSA or RSA accounts. Please call your insurance company directly to discuss your network benefits and determine your insurance coverage.
